Coulee Region Humane Society

Who We Are

We are an open admission animal shelter located in Onalaska, WI. We were incorporated in 1971 and received our accreditation in 1980 by the Wisconsin Federated Humane Societies. Our shelter cares for approximately 3,000 domestic and 900 wild animals a year. We provide shelter for stray and unwanted animals in our region and also provide information regarding lost and found animals to reunite these companion animals with their owners.

What We Do

Volunteers at the Coulee Region Humane Society are a precious resource who improve the lives of the animals that find themselves at our facility.  Volunteers assist with the daily essentials washing dishes, doing laundry and tidying kennels as well as help with the socialization of the thousands of animals that we assist annually. All of these pieces keep our animals less stressed, happier, and make them more adoptable.  Volunteers come to the shelter daily to walk, play with, groom, bathe and just spend time with our dogs, cats and small animals.

Volunteers also assist with a variety of needs around the shelter including mowing grass, tidying up flower beds, and light building maintenance. Volunteers may also choose to help in planning and assisting at a variety of community events, adoption events and fundraisers.
